Cochem est une belle ville située sur la Moselle. Son château, élevé dès l'an mille, fut la résidence des Comtes Palatins, puis une résidence impériale des Hohenstaufen. Il fut détruit par les troupes de Louis XIV en 1689. Reconstruit en style néo-gothique par un industriel en 1868-1877, il est aujourd'hui la propriété de la ville de Cochem.
